I finally received my Helen’s lace. A yummy grape color. It coordinates well with some rick rack yarn from Interlacements that I’ve had for a while. here it is (Katie’s helping):
Now the question. What to make?

All three are in the Gathering of Lace book. I was originally going to make option 1 (and why I got two skeins as one wouldn’t be enough), but now I’m just not sure! Help me decide…. which do you like?

oh…I hated A Gathering of Lace. There were so many absolutely stunning shawls pictured and the instructions were either so convoluted, I didn’t have patience for them or they had TONS of errors in them (be sure you check xrx for errata). So, much that I gave mine to Rebecca. I would opt for another pattern all together. Wendy (www.wendyknits.net) did a bunch of very nice ones this summer.
And - ! Am I going crazy? I thought it was 2nd and 4th Saturdays….is this Saturday a special get together? In any case, I have two (count ‘em) major exams next week on Monday and Wednesday so have to study. No…I can’t even take the time out to knit. That is my sad, cruel exsistence.

Option #3 has been languishing on my needles for about 2 years now. I actually finished the center panel, and got through one pattern repeat of one side panel before giving up (losing interest). It’s beautiful, but painful! I’ve been thinking of doing the Option one with some lavendar Zephyr I got from Judy. Hmmm. Nope, mittens first!

I like option 2 or 3 myself for a shawl, as opposed to the very ethereal looking #1, but that’s just me, so go with whichever one makes you feel most excited.

Option 2 looks really cosy, but then I’m writing in from weather-battered England, so that may be biasing my thinking! I really want a copy of that book, I keep seeing gorgeous pictures and getting tempted.
