Crawling back from falling off the edge of the world…..

This is one of those “where have I been?!” posts! The last two months have been super-duper-crazy because I ended up taking a job in Washington, and we moved there from Colorado. Me, the two kids, the husband, the two dogs & the two cats. We’re still settling, because all our stuff is in storage, and we’re living in a tiny rental house that’s furnished, but at least has a yard for the dogs to go out and do their business.
We were able to have the movers bring up a small shipment of stuff; things like diapers, dog/cat food, clothes, and I put my spinning wheel and two tubs of yarn/fiber into that portion of our stuff as well. We didn’t want too much stuff as we are in smaller square footage than we’re used to normally inhabiting. So I’ve got plenty I can knit or spin with, and we’re spending so much time running around getting settled that I haven’t had time to do much of anything!
The Knit Foundry had to take a break, but is back in business, although I’ve only got a limited amount of stock with me. I should have enough for all needle tamer requests, but containers are another story. In retrospect I should have brought more, but that’s how it goes. We weren’t sure where would end up when we got here. It was a bit of a treasure hunt. “Go to the apt complex at this address. Find the door with the keycode thing on it, punch in this code, and take your envelope. In that envelope will be a map and keys to your destination”.
Ideally I’d be spending my time finishing up Knit Visualizer 2.0, as I’m quite irked with myself for not having gotten further. But we’re busy right now deciding how much house we can afford, and where to find the house we want to buy. Complicated further by the fact that our house in Colorado hasn’t sold yet (anyone wanna buy a fabulous house??? I’ll make you a great deal!), we’re on a clock with only so much time we have in the temporary housing paid for by the relocation, before we have to move out to somewhere else. It’s a bit unnerving to not know where you’ll be living in two months, esp as all our household goods have to come with us. The sq footage of our old house was around 3300, here we’ll be lucky if we can purchase one with 2400 in the area we want to live in. (big yard sale when the moving truck shows up. whatever doesn’t fit will be sold! LOL)
So I do have one knitting-related link to share with you.

A wonderful example of “Elegant Cables” (pattern available here at The Knit Foundry) in pink!
