wierd things you see…

I was driving to work one day and saw this:

I didn’t know you could order an elephant shrub! I’ll have to get myself a whole zoo of shrub animals.

link - reading japanese charts

Mainly I’m putting this here to remember it, as I don’t know how accurate it is. But it looks like good info. Given that I’m starting to buy Japanese stitch dictionaries, this info should come in handy.

new beginnings

I figure I need to post at least once a month these days.

I have been knitting! I even have pictures of some stuff. Those pictures are on either camera #1, camera #2 or on my PC at home. The only picture I managed to do anything with was one of our new dining room windows. We haven’t moved in yet, but I was able to sneak a few pictures while we were there for the inspection (which all went really well, thankfully). Here’s the view from the dining room (ignore the furniture, it’s not ours):

The room also has two skylights so there’s tons of light in the room even when it’s cloudy out. I may have to work on some window shades that always stay up out of the way so we can do a bit of computing work when it’s sunny, esp as I have NO idea what the summers will be like sun wise. In the winter you don’t see the sun much.

We’re scheduled to close April 30th and move in on May 3rd. Cross your fingers that everything goes well. I’m ready to be done with paperwork! So far each day I have to fill out another piece of paper, or fax something, or meet someone at the house for inspection. I thought we were done but there was another piece of paper in my mailbox yesterday. I still have to finish filling it out; and then fax it in.

So what’s the knitting? I finished my Anemoi mittens. They are gorgeous. I washed/blocked them. Then put them away in a drawer. Harumph. (Not cold enough to wear them). I started a new scarf - easy knitting for the bus and fits in my purse. I also started a new Sweater . I’m using Mission Falls 1824 Wool in Russet and I’ve already finished the back. I only started it last week, so I’m amazed at my progress. I did have two plane rides with nothing to do but knit, so that did help. I am really excited about finishing it, even though I most likely wont’ be able to wear it until next winter. Pics soon, I hope!
