No more yellow!

So, I just knew you wanted in-progress pictures right??

Here ya go:

“No more yellow”!

Now don’t panic - This is NOT the final color. This is the primer. You can see the tape on the ceiling still. The husband says he kinda likes it like this. Yikes! I better get the real color on there fast. This was taken about 6:30 in the evening; the sun is still up.

I have a thought/plan for window coverings too for those funny shaped windows (should help when direct sunlight is coming in and we want to try to keep out the heat direct sun generates. Think roman shades with custom angled tops. The link is for a site that has great instructions on making roman shades yourself, and doing it correctly so that they go up/down with ease and look great too! I made two roman shades in our last house. One I brought with me (my son’s airplane quilt -can’t find the blog post right now, but I know it’s in the archives somewhere. Let me know if you find it, ‘k? Update: mom found it here ) The other I left there.

The only problem with the roman shade idea is that the top 6″ on the tallest side of each window will always be covered with a shade, and I’m not sure I want that. I’d love something that was able to dissappear completely when it was in the ‘up’ position. That might destroy the cool looking shape of that wall. We’ll see if I ever have energy to do anything about it.

The airplane roman shade is on May 30, 2004 posting. Even the primer looks better than the yellow. Anxious to see the Cajun Red applied.

I have pleated blinds in many of my windows and they very nearly disappear when they’re up. Mine are Hunter-Douglas Duets and you can see them down here. See the little bar at the top of each shade? That holds all of the mechanism and the open shade stacks to somewhat less height than the bar. They go inside the window frame, which really helps with the invisibility, too.

I don’t seem to have a photo that shows them open and my camera and photo CDs are packed up, but when I get a chance I’ll look for one.
