It’s all about spinning around here these days

First I tried to figure out what I wanted to do:

Spinning in progress (by Nancy Walsh)

Calculating the number of wraps per inch for the singles, and what the resulting yarn would be. There’s a lot of possible variations in what you’ll get - but it’s a good place to start. I also spun up some samples then navajo plied them to get a better idea of how the fiber would behave.

Then I did a lot of spinning:

Then I did a lot of plying and ended up with some yarn:

Three ply sock yarn

I rate it a fairly good success! I still have a bit left on two bobbins that I need to navajo ply to finish it up. This is about 7.6 ounces of yarn plied so far (another skein isn’t pictured). I was aiming for a sturdy but squishy yarn that is round (hence the three ply). It has a lot of bounce in it too. I can’t wait to knit with it, but I have some gift knitting I need to finish first.
