Knit Visualizer

Gull Lace Chart

Gull Lace Chart

Sometimes you just gotta make a chart! I recently took a look at the February Lady sweater pattern available for free – and it has a simple lace pattern in it. No chart provided, so I whipped this up in Knit Visualizer lickety split.

You can download the free pattern here.

I’m back!

No pictures yet, because I’m exhausted, and just caught up with orders after being gone all weekend. Lots of KV 2.0 orders; if you want to help me keep my sanity – order the download PLEASE! :)

I have pictures of madrona fun. But won’t post them til later. Here’s the extremely brief run down of my weekend. I took a class with Mother Judith; and my spinning will hopefully improve for it. I spun some Bison. I started a glove. I met the Yarn Harlot, and got a big hug. I also got a picture in which I prove that I’m not photogenic at all; I’ll torture you with that later. I took a class with the Harlot, and learned tons, including being entertained the whole time. I ate salmon, and learned about Bison, and then did more spinning with Mother Judith. I bought lots of stuff; 4-5 rovings, 2 skeins of yarn and a large lot of Kauni in a fit of insanity.

pssst

It’s up.

There’s an issue with the discount codes I was going to send out for upgrades; I promise I’m still working on that.

Knit Visualizer 2.0; Save File Converter icon

Knit Visualizer 2.0; Save File Converter icon

This is what the icon for the new Save File Converter tool that comes with Knit Visualizer 2.0 looks like (Except for the black background – flickr decided it didn’t like the transparency of those areas for some reason).

I was really hoping to get everything done today for the Knit Visualizer 2.0 release; but it looks like it’s just not quite done yet. Monday night should give me a bit more time to get those final things done; but I checked off over half my list today of things left to do. Progress is good!

Stitch Replacement Tool

Stitch Replacement Tool

Just to show I’m still working on the new version. Font insanity between Tiger, Leopard and Windows is driving me nuts, so I had to create this little tool that lets you replace all instances of one stitch in your chart with another.

Happy New Year

I spent a good portion of my new year’s eve writing documentation for Knit Visualizer 2.0. Yes, I am a party animal, aren’t I?

Here’s a sneak preview:

kv2.0modes

I’m working on explaining all of these modes and how they work.

Already explained in the manual is how you can do this:

apsectratio

It’s 59 pages and counting!

Knit Visualizer: Stitch Library Manager

Stitch Library Manager

Since I have no real knitting progress to show you; I’ll share what I have been spending my time on. This is a bit more than a sneak peek; as the window is sooooo close to being done. If you click on the image you can go see all the notes I’ve added in flickr about different elements on the screen.

The stitch shown in the editor is one I put together to create a wider cable than what the System library includes. It uses the Knit Visualizer font and symbols. (Unfortunately, the other knitting fonts out there don’t work on mac, or don’t work well in a chart where there is a grid drawn for you. One of them does work on Windows; but don’t expect to load up the same font on mac).

Knit Visualizer Symbol Definitions

You can download them here:

http://www.knitfoundry.com/kv/KnitVisualizerSymbolDefs1.2a.pdf

They will be part of the manual going forward; but for now you can get them as a smaller download.

I’ve been blogged by the Harlot

or rather, Knit Visualizer has been blogged. From today’s Yarn Harlot blog:

“…. because I have a brand spankin’ new copy of Knit Visualizer (which I love with a deep and burning affection.) I charted my graph paper scribbles into something that you can use too ….”

Yay!! :) Good thing I’ve been working overtime trying to get the next version done. :)

I just have to say Woot!!!!!!!!

This screen will likely change a bit, but the general idea is here, and I’m thrilled to get even further on it.
